Andina opened in the Pearl District in 2003 and has operated there long enough to have become part of the neighbourhood's fabric — a Peruvian restaurant that draws from the ceviche and causa tradition alongside the huancaína and braised preparations of Andean cuisine. The room is long and warmly lit, with glazed windows looking onto the street, lanterns overhead, and a kitchen visible at the rear. The pisco programme is one of the more considered in Portland: a range of single-varietal piscos and cocktails that reflect the regional specificity of what the drink is. The menu works from shared plates. Andina is at its best on weekday evenings when the Pearl District belongs to its own residents rather than its weekend traffic.
