A small bar occupying a medieval stone space entered through a Romanesque arch on Narodni Trg — the People's Square immediately adjacent to Diocletian's Palace. The arch frames the interior: warm light, a bar shelf of bottles, plants climbing the walls, bar stools, and the compressed hospitality of a room that knows it is beautiful without requiring its guests to acknowledge that. The square outside is the historic centre of Split's Venetian-era expansion; the bar occupies one of the ground-floor spaces that have operated as various commercial functions since the 15th century. The contrast between the ancient threshold — rough stone, worn steps — and the warm interior is the point of the place. Worth visiting in the evening, when the Trg empties slightly and the arch is lit from within.
