Capa no Rio, Porto — SÉRIF

Capa no Rio is set in a converted stone building in the Ribeira — the original masonry exposed, not as a design decision but as the correct response to what was already there. The dining room has a particular quality: circular suspended installations of trailing ivy lit by LED ring-lights overhead, a mature olive tree at the room's centre, amber leather booth seating along the walls, and at the back, the Super Bock brewing tanks visible behind glass as a working element rather than a display. The beer is brewed on-site; the menu runs to contemporary Portuguese cooking with the Douro's seafood logic. The space operates at a different register from the tourist-facing restaurants along the Ribeira quay — this is where the city eats.
