Climpson & Sons has been roasting on Broadway Market since 2002, which predates most of what the neighbourhood has since become. The café is the original location — small, confident, without the self-consciousness of places that arrived later and needed to announce themselves. The espresso is excellent and the filter coffee reflects the seriousness of the roasting operation directly. On Saturday mornings Broadway Market fills with its weekly crowd; the café opens before it does, and those early hours have a different quality from the rest of the day.
