A Hungarian patisserie in the Juárez neighbourhood that arrived with the interior intact — gilded walls, framed engravings, black iron chairs, an Art Nouveau glass entrance. The pastries are Central European: dobostorta, apple rétes, cream cakes assembled with a seriousness that has not updated itself for current café culture. The coffee is pressed and taken at marble-topped tables. The sound outside is Mexico City; the interior is not. The combination of conditions creates an atmosphere that could not have been designed — it is the result of time and specificity. One of the more singular interiors in the city.
