The interior is a single deep room with shelving that reaches the ceiling and a selection that concentrates on French and international literary fiction, with strong art, architecture, and humanities sections alongside. The shop does not stock bestsellers in the promotional sense — the tables are not dressed for commercial display. The atmosphere is that of a serious literary bookshop that has been here long enough to have no need to explain itself. The proximity to the Palais Royal gardens means arrivals in grey weather or golden hour carry an additional quality that amplifies the interior.
