Libreria Titano occupies a stone-fronted building on the main pedestrian lane of the historic centre — one of the few shops on the street that is not selling souvenirs. The selection focuses on Italian literature, history of the Republic, and the particular genre of regional Apennine writing that does not exist in any other bookshop in the world. The Sammarinese history section is small but irreplaceable: monographs on the three towers, the constitutional history of the republic, the mountain settlements of the surrounding Romagna. The shop is quiet — most visitors walk past without entering. The ones who do tend to stay for longer than they planned.
