Literaat occupies a large room in the Telliskivi Creative City complex in which floor-to-ceiling bookshelves line the walls and a marble fireplace anchors one end — the books are not decorative, and the shelving system is extensive enough to function as a proper bookshop. The dining operation runs alongside: long wooden tables set with wine glasses and velvet chairs in teal and burgundy, a menu card bearing the Literaat name, and a kitchen that takes the restaurant element seriously. The combination — books as the primary architectural element, dining as the main activity — works because neither element concedes to the other. A good evening destination in a neighbourhood that rewards exploration beyond the old town.
