Lobo López is a Sevillano restaurant with the manner of a place that has outlasted its contemporaries by remaining exactly itself. The room is tiled in the Andalusian tradition — azulejo panels running to shoulder height, painted in the blue and white geometric patterns that arrived from the Islamic craft tradition and stayed. The menu is the kind that exists in every Spanish city in theory and in very few in practice: simple, seasonal, executed without shortcuts. The tapas include dishes that are not available in tourist Seville — the versions made for the neighbourhood rather than for visitors. The lunchtime service, when the tables are occupied by people who have come here for years and have their preferred seats, is the correct hour. The evening is good; the lunch is better.
