Café Bar Mely’s Brunch and Cake

Mely’s is a café in La Coruña serving brunch, cakes and pastries. Originally conceived as a small bakery, the project grew to include savoury food and a café where its founder could bring her baking and hospitality experience together. The café grew out of Mely’s Bakery, a project initially centred on homemade sweets. Brunch became part of the plan as the business developed, with savoury dishes joining the cakes and pastries that had been there from the beginning. Its founder first became interested in pastry while living in Argentina, taking courses before moving to Spain. She continued baking while working in hospitality, gaining experience that would later help her establish her own business. Her brother Samuel encouraged her to begin selling her sweets, and she eventually set up a stand at La Coruña’s Feria de la Chinita. It was an early opportunity to introduce her baking to people beyond friends and family. In January 2026, she began making plans to open her own café. By then, the idea had moved beyond a bakery, with brunch becoming part of what she wanted to offer. Mely’s Bakery would become Café Bar Mely’s Brunch and Cake, giving her baking a permanent home alongside a wider menu. Mely’s retains the baking that started the project, now served alongside brunch and savoury dishes. The café is the result of a series of practical steps, from learning pastry and selling sweets at a local fair to opening a business of her own in La Coruña.
