Miss Clara occupies a former girls' school built in 1910 on Sveavägen — the building has retained its character through the conversion: travertine stone reception desk, a checkerboard stone floor in warm rust and cream, arched windows with heavy velvet curtains, and the kind of proportions that come from a building designed to accommodate many people quietly. The pendant glass lights in the entrance hall are a later addition but they work. The neighbourhood is Östermalm, with Biblioteksgatan's bookshops and independent galleries within walking distance. The hotel operates with a particular restraint — nothing announces itself. This is a hotel that rewards guests who arrive already knowing where they are.
