Pasticceria Marchesi, Milan — SÉRIF

Marchesi has been on Via Santa Maria alla Porta since 1824 and has the specific unhurriedness of a place that does not need to prove itself. The pastry cases contain the Milanese canon — panettone in winter, colomba at Easter, and always the brioches that the city refers to as cornetti even though they are not. The counter seating is for espresso; the tables are for people who intend to stay a little longer than that.
