Phin Smith, Las Vegas — SÉRIF

Phin Smith takes its name from the Vietnamese drip filter — the phin — and its aesthetic from the idea that a café interior can be a living thing. The ceiling installation is the defining gesture: a canopy of indoor trees threaded with woven rattan pendants that glow amber in the dark upper volume, creating a room that operates below its own forest rather than around it. The coffee programme is built on the Vietnamese phin method, slow-dripped and patient, which makes the space's unhurried atmosphere a functional requirement as much as a design choice. In a city that moves at a pace antithetical to slow coffee, Phin Smith constitutes a genuine counterargument.
